Bonus video for DAY105 – Jonathan Byrd – The Ballad of Larry. Recorded live at Bluebird North in Roundhouse Community Centre on June 04, 2012 in HD (1080p on XA10).

After I’d shot Jonathan’s “I Was an Oak Tree”, I was going to be off to the Rickshaw to see a new friend (from Australia, Jason Lowe) perform an early (Sir Run Run’s Tiny Dynasty) show. But then Shari Ulrich asked me if I would be willing to stay and shoot the Bluebird North songwriter’s showcase that Jonathan was performing in and well… I tend to go where I’m invited these days, so I said ‘sure’! When I heard this song about a man he met at a Gas Station (that had something special about him that Jonathan didn’t know), I was attracted to lines like “You think you’ve got nothing to give. Well look around, how people live. Loneliness is Poverty, Say hey, hey… say ‘hey’ to me” So I was torn about which song to post… the one he sat with me and performed just for me (to shoot)? Or this story/slice of life that resonated on a deep level with me… well, I make the rules here, so I decided to post them both!
