Video #143 – Bombolesse – Approchez. Recorded live at the Vancouver Folk Festival on July 14, 2012 in HD (1080p on XA10).
Bombolessé is a festive group that sings in French, Portuguese, Spanish and Creole is an ode to joy while trying to raise awareness of the problems and imbalances in our society.
Just follow the life course of singer / bassist Julian Alvarez Thomet to understand the origins of Bombolessé. Born in Cuba and raised in Brazil by a French father and Spanish mother, the artistic direction of his compositions is tinged with cultural diversity to which Julien was always exposed. He is accompanied by Alix Christmas, “orphan of the world”: a Montrealer of Haitian origin who collaborated on the writing and composition.
This diversity is manifested in the form of music “brésilianisée” thanks to the influence of multi-cultural Montreal. With seven musicians from different musical backgrounds, Bombolessé managed to mix funk and rock with the rhythms of Brazil, through Africa, unique way. In common is their love for Brazil and its musical roots that are the foundation of the artistic direction of the group. On stage or on disc Bombolessé is a source of contagious fun that they want to share with everyone.
