Video #39 of 1000 – Sweet Lee Morrow – Politics. Recorded live at The Venue on Apr. 7, 2012 in HD (1080p).
Bringing brutal sincerity in his words, his songs are carried in a vehicle fueled by melody and taste. Quite the under-spoken yet grandiose resolve that can only be the summation of a gentle whisper that screams at your heart and soul. I chose the song “Politics” as ‘the song I would post’ as soon as I heard the first line, “fuck all these politics / I’m on rocket heels / up to Saturn for chaos and open fields” a sincere rumination on being human in a sometimes inhuman world…
Sweet Lee Morrow was the first ‘special guest’ for The Polyphonic Spree playing to about a dozen (or so) people. There were a handful more by the time he was finished, but, it being a Saturday show (which means early concert and then clear the room for ‘club night’ by 10:30)… most of the crowd arrived just before the Spree went on stage just after 9pm. Sweet Lee played a quiet, introspective little set on his acoustic guitar and then played keyboards for the Spree. I was so blown away by the energy of the Spree concert, I posted a special extended clip on Easter Sunday (the following day): http://wp.me/p2gWMn-fp
