Video #50 of 1000 – Tif Ginn – Little White Pills. Recorded live at The Rogue Folk Club on May 18, 2012 in HD (1080p on XA10).

I walked into St. James Hall to reserve my seat (before the crowd was admitted to the sold-out show) while Tif was doing her soundcheck and soon saw that she had her 3yr old son close by. A remarkable fact considering this gutsy, amazing singer has spent most of her adult life touring North America playing music professionally as half of the Fabulous Ginn Sisters and (now most of his young life) as part of the Fred Eaglesmith’s Traveling Show.

She opened the show as a solo artist, fronting the band she has been playing with for the last several years performing songs from her self-titled solo debut that was released in April of 2012. Produced by Fred Eaglesmith, “Tif Ginn” was recorded with his road-weathered band at Eaglesmith’s studio in Southern Ontario, Canada. Eaglesmith used his trademark one-mic approach, utilizing just one channel, sending the mono/analog signal to quarter-inch tape. Nine of the twelve songs were co-written by Eaglesmith, who is himself an iconic Americana songwriter. The songs indirectly reflect the kind of ‘struggle’ that is living in a motorhome and touring for years without much time to relax or regroup. They are songs of single moms, lovesick fools, trailer park life, and abuse.
