Video #344 of 1000 – Stompin Tom – To It and At It (performed by Mitch Anderson) For DAY344 of EveryDayMusic on Mar. 10, 2013. Recorded in his kitchen this afternoon -on Mar. 10 in HD (1080p on XA10).
When I heard Tom Connors had passed I immediately thought of finding someone to do one of his songs for me and posting it this Sunday (today). My second thought was Mitch. Mitch and I have mutual friends and he LOVES Stompin Tom, so I set to finding him and trying to arrange it right away. He got back to me (via Facebook) that afternoon and invited me to a house concert that night. I changed all of my plans for the evening and ended up at one of my favorite house concert nights. But the shot and songs I got that night weren’t what I wanted to post, so I called him Saturday about doing another one. We were planning on shooting “Bridge Came Tumbling Down” and he played that one for me first. Then he played “Bud the Spud” and then… this one came out. And it was perfect for me (because regardless of his patriotism, the one thing Stompin Tom personified to me was that earthly good natured humor of our ‘Easterners’). And here he tells a story about Maritimers heading West to Ontario in search of ‘the good life’ (but not actually finding it). So, once again another perfect song is unearthed unexpectedly and find itself here (exactly when it needs to be)…

Mitch, so good to hear your voice! VW mirco-bus meets moose flank after midnight north of Timmins Ontario… Peace!
